Hi there!
I am Francisco, currently I am a postdoctoral scholar working with Brent Mishler. I’m housed in the University and Jepson Herbaria at the University of California, Berkeley.
I use Phylogenetic Comparative Methods to explore the interactions between species, adaptation, and ecological dynamics across temporal and geographical scales. My research focuses on evolutionary dynamics in ecological systems. I am particularly interested in how evolutionary processes shape biodiversity along environmental gradients through trait evolution and species interactions.
I am originally from Colombia, where I completed my undergrad and master’s degrees at the Universidad de Los Andes. While in Colombia, I worked in forest dynamics, community ecology in vegetation and primates. Then, I completed my PhD at the University of British Columbia in beautiful Vancouver! Under the supervision of Matt Pennell, I explored aspects on macroevolution, diversification rates, and phylogenetic topology. As a Chicago Fellow in Trevor Price Lab at the University of Chicago, I started a long-term project along elevation gradients in the Northwestern Himalayas Research.
Feel free to contact me to talk about research and collaborations!!
